Opportunity: Veterinarian Needed to Support Red River College Surgery Course

The Animal Health Technology program at Red River College Polytechnic is seeking a veterinarian to provide surgical oversight for our Tuesday Surgery course, working collaboratively with Dr. Natalia Cardoso.

Role Overview

Students rotate through the day in small groups, each led by an RVT instructor. The veterinarian provides supervision from start to finish, with flexible shift options based on preference:

  • 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Earlier hours focus on physical exams and premedication, while later hours involve recovery and client discharge. Experienced RVT instructors are on-site throughout the day for support.
Please note: client admissions are not required. Animals are admitted Monday and stay overnight at the college.

Surgery Details

  • Approximately six surgeries per day (three cats, three dogs)
  • Cases are shared among supervising veterinarians
  • Typical caseload is three surgeries per veterinarian, with occasional overlap

Scheduled Tuesday Dates

  • January: 6, 13, 20, 27
  • February: 3, 10
  • March: 10, 17, 24, 31

Compensation

Remuneration will be discussed based on availability and level of commitment.
