Zoonotic Diseases Workshop - May 10 - Calgary

The ABVMA is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a John Waters Zoonotic Diseases Workshop in 2018. The workshop is held every second to third year in cooperation with several other organizations including Alberta Health and Alberta Ag and Forestry.

Expert human and veterinary health care professionals will speak on pertinent zoonotic topics such as Echinococcus multilocularis, West Nile Virus, Rabies, Q Fever, tuberculosis and zoonotic risks from raw pet food diets and movement of animals during rescue and disaster situations. Held at Libin Theatre, University of Calgary, Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary.

Course Summary
Osteoarthritis - the cause of many mobility issues in geriatric patients, combined with physiologic changes from aging and oftentimes obesity, contributes to a vicious cycle of pain, inactivity, and declining quality of life. This course will equip you with the practical knowledge of the best multimodal approaches for successfully managing the geriatric, arthritic, and obese dog or cat in your veterinary practice.

In addition to learning clinical strategies, the course will teach you how to implement those strategies and market to clients with pets suffering from these mobility-restricting conditions to jump start your business.

International Conference on Diseases in Nature Transmissible to Man - June 2018

On June 26 and 27, 2018, the WCVM and the University of Saskatchewan will be hosting the 73rd annual meeting of the International Conference on Diseases in Nature Transmissible to Man (INCDNCM).
The INCDNCM is the oldest running zoonoses meeting in the world. It provides a forum for veterinarians, physicians, scientists, public health professionals and specialists to present their data and findings for discussion and debate.
To keep the meeting inclusive and to encourage students to attend the registration fees are kept relatively low - $50 for students and $250 (+GST) for others.

CVMA Conference - July 5-8 - Vancouver

The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) invites you and your veterinary team to join colleagues for the best continuing education in Canada. Canada’s only national, multi-species veterinary convention is taking place in Vancouver, BC from July 5 to 8, 2018.
