DESCRIPTION:Do you have difficulty approaching or reducing long bone fractures? Are you interested in learning simple techniques designed for the general practitioner to repair the most common fractures seen in dogs and cats? This laboratory is the one for you! We will teach reliable techniques and give valuable practical tips useful in repairing simple and more challenging comminuted fractures of long bones. \nJoin Dr. Terri Schiller at the University of Calgary for knowledgeable lectures\, valuable demonstrations\, and an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the implant system by performing the same procedure on cadavers and bone models.  Clinical case discussions will put everything into context and allow us to discuss postoperative care and strategies to reduce complications.  This workshop is RACE-approved for a total of 20 CE Credits. SUMMARY:SJDAWC 2023 Webinar Series - Animal welfare issues in veterinary behavioural medicine
DESCRIPTION:The Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Centre at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) invites you to its three-part webinar series on Animal Welfare Issues in Veterinary Behavioural Medicine. The webinars feature Dr. Karen Overall\, professor of behavioural medicine\, AVC\, and will take place on April 18\, 25\, and May 2\, all beginning at 4 p.m. ADT. \nThis webinar series will identify signs of aggression in dogs\, as well as recognize when these signs are a cry for help.  There will be a discussion on the damaging effects of punishment on companion animals\, with a focus on using force and shock in dogs.  The series will end with a review of new and exciting research in veterinary behavioural medicine. \nVeterinarians and veterinary technicians are eligible for continuing education credit. Dr. Radosta is the owner of Florida Veterinary Behavior Service\, a specialty behaviour practice in southeast Florida\, and she co-owns Dog Nerds\, an online educational resource for owners whose pets have behaviour disorders. Dr. Radosta graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. She completed a residency in Behavioral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
