Business Development Representative - Petline

Reporting to the Director, Sales, the Business Development Representative will develop strategies and implement tactical plans to attain business growth, as well as deliver exceptional customer care and benefit retention.  He/she will also execute the marketing of channel products and services with breeders, shelters and/or rescue operations.

Sales & Marketing

·         Selling either the breeder or shelter/rescue channel on the benefits of pet health insurance for their clients and their business and establishing voucher programs

·         Reviewing results with breeders or shelters/rescues and providing guidance and assistance in growing the profitability of the voucher program through the creation of unique programs

·         Assessing voucher activity and focusing efforts to continue to grow A-level breeders or shelters/rescues and bring B-level breeders or shelters/rescues up to meet goals

·         Driving awareness of pet health insurance, through training and education of breeder or shelter staff and attendance at key trade and industry shows

·         Assisting in the development and execution of marketing plans and programs to drive growth and market share of existing business and cultivation of new markets


·         Providing guidance to breeder and shelter/rescue staff on the use of Vet Envoy

·         Participating in breeder and shelter/rescue online communities and monitoring feedback on Breedsecure/Adoptsecure and Petsecure programs

·         Managing escalated customer inquiries related to policies, claims and coverage


·         Entering activities and contacts into SalesForce

·         Creating marketing codes in PAWS

·         Tracking and issuing cheques and letters

·         Ordering and arranging delivery of vouchers and promotional materials to breeders and shelters/rescues

Business Planning & Reporting

·         Assisting in preparing monthly Voucher Activation and Conversion Reports and analyzing market activity to adjust tactical plans

·         Assisting with evaluation of market reactions to advertising programs, and providing information and recommendations about competitive conditions in area of operation


·         Post-secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

·         Knowledge of insurance regulatory bodies (e.g. OSFI)

·         Valid driver's license

·         Must be willing and able to travel

·         Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in pet health
