The MVMA is Hiring - Communications and Professional Development Coordinator

Full Time, Permanent Position (37.5 hours per week)

The MVMA would consider a reduced work week for the appropriate candidate (minimum 28 hours per week).

Please note: full-time hours may be required in November, December and January for CenCan preparation.

As the advocate for the veterinary profession, the MVMA promotes animal health and welfare, public awareness of veterinary medicine and supports members in their pursuit of professional excellence. As a regulatory body, the MVMA is responsible for licensing members, inspecting clinics, and mediating public concerns/complaints regarding the practice of veterinary medicine in the Province of Manitoba.

The Communications and Professional Development Coordinator (CPDC) is a full-time employee of the MVMA who supports member services, internal and external communications, and advocacy of the veterinary profession in Manitoba.  This position reports to and works under the direction of the Executive Director (ED) of the association.

Key Functions: 

·         Internal member communication including newsletter development; website maintenance; member updates and notifications; and maintain and updating of MVMA documentation

·         External communication including participation in the development of a media plan and press releases

·         Coordinate professional development for MVMA members

·         Event and meeting coordination

·         Sponsorship solicitation and development

·         Committee support and coordination

·         Administrative support as directed by the ED

Necessary qualifications and skills include:

·         Team player 

·         Project coordination and execution 

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Superior computer skills in Microsoft programs, database management, and web-based applications 

·         Excellent organizational and time management skills

Additional qualification and skills:

·         Related experience and/or diploma/degree in communication, marketing, public relations

·         Sponsorship/sales solicitation

·         Experience in a non-profit organization 

Occasional requirement to work outside regular office hours.

Minimal travel is required.
