The Winnipeg Humane Society is offering a unique and rewarding opportunity for a qualified candidate who wants to experience the rewards of shelter medicine and community veterinary support.
We are one of the most established and most progressive animal welfare establishments in Canada. Our mission is to protect all animals from suffering and to promote their welfare and dignity. The successful applicant will join the team of 3 veterinarians, 6 veterinary technologists and the rest of the dedicated shelter staff. This job is diverse and fast-paced with a lot of variety and opportunity for growth within the career.
We offer basic and advanced veterinary care for animals in our care and pets belonging to low-income community members as well as veterinary care for pets living in remote areas of Manitoba. We perform over 6000 surgical procedures a year and surgery is only ½ of what we do. The WHS works closely with other Manitoba rescues, the City of Winnipeg Animal Services, and the Government of Manitoba Chief Veterinary Officer. We have in house digital radiography, blood machine, digital dental radiography, Tono-pen, 3 surgery suites and a dental suite. We treat dogs, cats and exotics pets with a Fear Free approach, individual consideration, and exemplary medicine.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about surgery, dentistry, community support, animal welfare and likes a fast-paced work environment with a lot of variety. Dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets, emergencies, spay/neuter, appointments, dentistry, orthopedics, behaviour, soft tissue surgery, dermatology, Fear Free Handling, fun, work/life balance, we have got it all!
We offer health/dental/vision insurance coverage, MVMA/CVMA licensing dues, CE allowance and uniforms. No on call but some weekend shifts. Salary will be commensurate based on experience.

- At least one year of small animal surgical experience is an asset but not a requirement. Interest in surgery is a must.
